Motorcyclist Killed in Pattaya Bus Collision

36-year-old rider died after swerving to avoid woman who ran into busy road in North Pattaya

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 36-year-old motorcyclist died in North Pattaya after he swerved to avoid a woman who suddenly ran into the road and collided head-on with an oncoming tourist bus.

Crash on Busy Pattaya–Na Kluea Road

The collision occurred at about 10:20 p.m. on 18 February 2026 on the Pattaya–Na Kluea Road in front of Muang Pattaya 9 School, a heavily used thoroughfare in the north of the city. On-duty Police Lieutenant Colonel Chiwaphat Chaiakan, deputy investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a crash between a motorcycle and a tourist bus with a severely injured rider and immediately alerted rescue units and a medical team.

Rescue Effort and Death in Hospital

At the scene, responders found a white-and-green Honda Dream lying on its side in the middle of the road, its front badly deformed and debris scattered across the carriageway. Nearby lay the unconscious rider, identified as 36-year-old Worakorn Bandasak, on whom rescue workers and doctors began resuscitation before taking him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his serious injuries.

Tourist Bus Damage and Driver’s Account

The second vehicle involved was a white Sunlong tourist bus with Bangkok license plate 32-8123, which had come to a stop with damage to its right front bumper and a broken headlight. The 63-year-old driver, Sangwian Rakkhao, remained at the scene, cooperated with police and said he had been on his way to Na Kluea to drop off tourists when the motorcycle approached from the direction of Pattaya.

Woman Running into Road Triggered Crash

According to the bus driver, at that moment a woman, who appeared mentally confused or impaired in her judgment, suddenly ran into the middle of the road, apparently to cross or pick something up. He told officers that the motorcyclist then swerved abruptly, lost control, grazed or struck the woman and was thrown across the lanes before crashing head-on with considerable force into the bus, causing the fatal injuries.

Police Securing Evidence and Reviewing CCTV

Police cordoned off the accident site, documented damage to both vehicles and took statements from witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators were also reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the exact course of the crash and to clearly assess the legal responsibility of those involved, including the condition of the as yet unidentified woman in the roadway.
