PATTAYA, THAILAND – A Chinese tourist was allegedly assaulted and robbed by three transgender women in a Pattaya hotel room, prompting an intensive police manhunt.
Attack in Soi 4 Hotel
Police in Pattaya received an emergency call at about 4:30 a.m. reporting a serious incident at a hotel in Soi 4 off Pattaya Second Road. Officers rushed to the scene after being informed that a Chinese man had been attacked in his room. Shortly afterward, 27‑year‑old Jiang Zili appeared at the police station with bruises and abrasions, having been given first aid by rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation.
Alleged Robbery by Three Transgender Women
With the help of an interpreter, Jiang told investigators that he had taken one transgender woman back to his hotel room. According to his statement, she did not arrive alone but brought along two accomplices, turning the supposed date into an ambush. The three women allegedly rampaged through the room, beat him and stole 20,000 baht in cash, roughly 500 euros, before fleeing.
Victim Seeks Help Outside the Hotel
After the robbery, the suspects reportedly ran off, leaving the room in disarray and Jiang injured. He managed to leave the hotel and make his way outside in search of assistance. A motorcycle taxi driver waiting at the entrance of the soi witnessed his distress and later recounted the moment.
“The injured tourist ran up to me in complete panic and asked for help. He shouted that he had been attacked by three transgender women,”
said the motorcycle taxi driver.
Key Witness Assists Police
The driver immediately helped Jiang contact the police and begin the necessary procedures. Without this swift intervention, the victim might have remained alone and injured for longer. Investigators now regard the driver as an important witness, and his statement was being closely examined for clues that could help identify the suspects.
Police Secure CCTV Footage
Detectives from the Pattaya City Police launched an investigation and started collecting surveillance footage from around the hotel. The video recordings were expected to show who the three women were and how they behaved before and after the incident. Officers hoped the suspects had been clearly captured on camera.
“We will establish the identities of the suspects and hold them accountable,”
said a police spokesman.
Pattern of Targeting Tourists
Authorities noted that robberies of tourists by transgender women had occurred repeatedly in Pattaya. The perpetrators often exploited the trust of their victims, luring them to hotels or secluded spots and then robbing them, with lone male travelers seen as particularly vulnerable. Officials issued a warning urging visitors to be cautious with spontaneous acquaintances, avoid unnecessary risks and keep valuables securely stored.
Holiday on Hold for Injured Tourist
According to police, Jiang was expected to remain in Pattaya for some time as he would be needed as a witness and to assist in identifying the suspects. His holiday plans were effectively over, replaced by interviews with investigators and the prospect of a possible court appearance. Officers emphasized that cases like this seriously damage Pattaya’s image and undermine the sense of safety for tourists in the city.
