BANGKOK, THAILAND – A 58-year-old Scottish tourist disappeared under unclear circumstances shortly after arriving in Thailand, triggering an urgent search by family and authorities.
Last contact from Bangkok’s main airport
Scottish traveler Kenny Robertson reportedly landed in Thailand in early January and last contacted his family from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on 5 January. Three days later, on 8 January, a brief email reached a friend, after which he completely disappeared from view. Relatives said this sudden silence was highly unusual for him.
“It is absolutely untypical for him to go so long without making contact.”
said the family in an urgent appeal for assistance.
Planned volunteer work with dog protection project
Robertson had planned to travel independently for several weeks before volunteering with a Thai dog protection project. However, the organization reported it had never heard from him and confirmed he had not arrived to start his placement. His planned commitment ended before it could begin.
Authorities in Thailand and UK informed
The family officially filed a missing person report with the authorities. Both the Thai police and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) were notified of the case. The British Embassy in Bangkok and Thailand’s tourist police were also involved in the ongoing search.
Family appeals for any information
Relatives called on anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward, stressing that every detail could be crucial. Robertson is a Scottish citizen, 58 years old and was travelling alone when he vanished.
