PHUKET, THAILAND – A 25-year-old tourist from Uzbekistan died after falling from a fourth-floor hotel window in Cherng Talay, prompting a police death investigation and forensic review.
Sudden behavioral change before fatal fall
A 25-year-old visitor from Uzbekistan fell from the fourth floor of a hotel on Soi Cherng Talay 14 on a Saturday afternoon. Around 2:30 p.m. on 18 January, witnesses said the previously calm guest suddenly showed a disturbing change in behavior. According to their accounts, he became agitated, repeatedly called out for his mother, opened a window and jumped.
Resuscitation efforts and hospital treatment
Hotel staff immediately alerted emergency services, and first responders performed resuscitation at the scene. The injured man was then transported by the Cherng Talay Municipality rescue unit and an ambulance to Thalang Hospital. Despite all efforts, he died in the emergency room at around 4:15 p.m. due to the severity of his injuries.
Police open death investigation
Police were informed of the death by hospital staff and promptly opened an investigation as a death case. Police Lieutenant Colonel Niwat Timket was assigned to handle the file and reported the matter to his superior officers. The body was later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Cannabis detected in preliminary testing
Hospital doctors carried out initial drug testing, and police confirmed a significant early finding: cannabis was detected in the man’s system. Investigators stated that the role of any substance use in his mental state and subsequent actions remained under review. They emphasized that no direct causal link between cannabis consumption and the incident could be assumed at this stage.

Thalang police continued to treat the matter as a death investigation, and the Uzbek embassy in Thailand was informed of the case. Out of respect for the relatives, authorities withheld the man’s name until his family could be notified.
