BANGKOK, THAILAND – A woman who allegedly threatened people with a knife on a city bus and later on a Sukhumvit sidewalk was detained by police after bystanders intervened.

Videos posted online by user “Nisarat Gam Dumnernsawat” showed an agitated woman on a public bus in Bangkok. She threatened other passengers with a knife, and the situation was described as tense. The bus attendant tried to grab the woman’s hand, while the driver left his seat to help.
Passengers help remove woman from vehicle
Together, the bus occupants managed to bring the situation under control. For safety reasons, the driver ordered the woman off the bus and let her out at the roadside. According to the attendant, the woman had attracted attention before, and her striking behaviour was known from earlier rides.

Around the same time, a second video was recorded, showing a woman of similar appearance on a crowded sidewalk in Sukhumvit. There she also threatened pedestrians with a knife, including foreign tourists among those targeted. Several people tried to get away, and reports said a person at a market stall was injured by the woman.
Bystanders block taxi and call police
The woman then tried to get into a parked taxi to leave the scene, but people nearby stopped her escape. Several motorcycle taxi drivers surrounded the vehicle and told the taxi driver to step out of his car. At the same time they held the taxi doors shut and alerted the police, keeping the woman inside until officers arrived.

When the police reached the scene, the woman was still in the taxi and was arrested without further incident. The actions of the motorcycle taxi drivers and other bystanders were described as calm and considered, helping to prevent additional injuries.
