PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 21-year-old man said he was lured to a woman’s apartment in Pattaya and violently assaulted by her boyfriend, before later being accused of burglary and theft.
Night out at Smileyland Market turns violent
The incident reportedly began in a bar at the Smileyland Market, where a woman identified only as “A” approached the 21-year-old, named Phakkapon, took his hand and invited him to her table. He bought her drinks and they exchanged Instagram contacts.
“She told me she was single,”
said Phakkapon, who believed this lie led directly to what followed.
Later, she invited him to her home in Khao Talo, saying, according to his account, that
“she wanted me to play with her cat.”
Trusting her, he agreed to go with her.
Manshoes at the door and a sudden attack
Outside the apartment he noticed men’s shoes at the door and became suspicious. The woman reassured him that they belonged to a family member, and then allegedly tried to seduce him in the bedroom. Suddenly her boyfriend arrived home and, without saying a word, allegedly attacked the visitor.
“He grabbed me by the neck, punched and kicked me,”
said the victim. He described the ordeal as lasting what felt like an eternity until he lost consciousness, and photos reportedly showed scars and bruises across his body.
Escape over a wall and counter-complaint
When he regained consciousness, the attacker allegedly forced him to climb over a wall to get out. Severely injured, he fled to his family, who took him straight to a hospital. He then reported the assault to the Nong Prue police station.
Soon after, the boyfriend filed a counter-complaint, accusing Phakkapon of burglary and theft. The young man rejected this as a brazen distortion of events and insisted he had been the victim, not an intruder.
Public appeal as authorities stay silent
“I was invited, I did not break in,”
said Phakkapon to local media, showing his injuries. He said he hoped that public pressure would force police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.
So far, there had been no official statement from the authorities, and the case remained opaque. Observers noted that it echoed other unresolved incidents reported during the night in Pattaya.
Online reactions: mockery and warnings
The case triggered heated debate on social media, where some users partly blamed the victim. One commenter advised him to,
“see it as an expensive lesson,”
while others made dark jokes, including one who quipped that
“the cat must have been very wild.”
Critics argued that such reactions downplayed the seriousness of the alleged bodily harm. The discussion highlighted how violence and victim-blaming often intersect in online forums.

According to these views, fraud, violence and false accusations were regular risks behind the nightlife façade.
