PATTAYA, THAILAND – City officials and traffic police in Pattaya announced extensive traffic restrictions along Beach Road for the upcoming Pattaya International Fireworks Festival.
Beach Road fully closed and broad parking bans
Pattaya Beach Road was to be completely closed to vehicle traffic from 16:00 to 24:00 on both Friday, 28 November, and Saturday, 29 November. All lanes remained shut to cars and motorcycles during these hours.
All-day parking bans from 04:00 to 24:00 applied on Pattaya Beach Road and Pattaya Central Road, Pattaya South Road and every soi from Pattaya Soi 1 to Soi 13/4. On Pattaya Second Road, no parking was allowed on the right-hand side between the Wat Chai Mongkhon junction and the Dolphin roundabout from 13:00 to 24:00.
Closed soi access and new one-way rules
Several soi access points in Central and South Pattaya were closed between 16:00 and 01:00. In Central Pattaya this affected Soi Buakhao, while in South Pattaya both Soi Ko Phai and Soi Buakhao were shut.
Connections between Second Road and Phettrakul Road were reorganised: Soi 2 was designated one-way from Phettrakul towards Second Road, while Soi 3 and 4 were only passable from Second Road towards Phettrakul. Soi 5 served solely as a one-way link from Central Pattaya to Second Road.
Additional changes in South Pattaya and Naklua
Further one-way arrangements applied to South Pattaya Soi 1, which could only be used from South Pattaya Road towards Soi Ko Phai. In Naklua, Soi 22 was open only for inbound traffic, while Soi 24 was restricted to outbound traffic.
These changes were intended to streamline flows around key festival zones and prevent bottlenecks on small connecting streets.
Dedicated rescue lane on Beach Road
On the left side of Beach Road, between Soi 3 and Soi 9, a special rescue lane was set up from 16:00 to 01:00. This lane was reserved exclusively for emergency vehicles so they could respond quickly despite the large-scale event.
After the shows ended, traffic was directed out of the city centre, with Central Pattaya Road operating as a one-way route towards Sukhumvit Road between 21:00 and 01:00.
Appeal to motorists and warning of congestion
City authorities issued a clear appeal to residents and visitors to adapt their travel plans.
“We advise people to plan their journeys early and to avoid Beach Road, Central Pattaya and South Pattaya for through traffic wherever possible.”
said city officials.
They urged drivers to use alternative routes to travel more safely and smoothly.
“Motorists should follow the instructions of the traffic police on site and show patience, especially in the evening hours.”
said the authorities.
Because of dense crowds and the closures, officials explicitly pointed to a heightened risk of traffic jams and urged the public to allow extra time for their journeys.
