Pattaya mother pleads for missing son

Thai woman accuses foreign ex-partner of taking child as online search draws massive attention

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A Thai mother’s desperate search for her missing young son has captivated Pattaya’s international community after she accused her foreign ex-partner of abducting the child. Her online appeal sparked an extraordinary show of support — and a wave of controversy that quickly exposed deep personal disputes behind the case.

Viral plea triggers community-wide search

On 30 October, the woman posted photos of her child and her former partner in the popular Facebook group “Pattaya Talk.” Accompanied by the hashtag #Searching, she pleaded for help locating them, stating that the case had already been reported to police.

“IF ANYONE SEES THEM, PLEASE CONTACT ME,”

her post read.

The message spread rapidly across the city’s digital networks. Within hours it had drawn more than 14,000 reactions and 1,200 shares, as residents and expatriates joined the effort to locate the boy. While many users expressed sympathy, others began debating what had truly happened between the separated parents.

Friend of ex-partner challenges abduction claim

The search took an unexpected turn when a man identifying himself as a friend of the foreign ex-partner responded publicly. He rejected the abduction allegation and claimed the father had taken his son only for safety reasons. The friend further alleged that the mother was working as a sex worker in Pattaya and had neglected her child, often leaving him in the care of another woman he described as equally unfit.

Those statements shifted the narrative dramatically, fueling speculation and dividing opinions within the online community. The mother, however, disputed all accusations in subsequent comments, insisting she had cared for the boy alone under difficult circumstances.

Mother recounts relationship and alleged mistreatment

According to her account, the couple had lived together for three years before she became pregnant. She alleged that after informing her partner about the pregnancy, he refused to accept paternity, forced her to leave their home, and offered no help — neither financial nor emotional — in raising the child.

She said she moved in with her sister and a friend and supported her son without assistance from the man she believed to be the father. Over time, she claimed to have endured verbal and physical abuse during their relationship and alleged that the man faced drug-related charges in the past — claims that could not be independently verified.

Illness meeting ends with disappearance

The mother said the situation escalated last week when the ex-partner’s new girlfriend contacted her, claiming that the man was bedridden and wanted to see his child one last time as his health deteriorated. Out of compassion, she agreed to the meeting.

But, she recounted, once she arrived with the boy, the man allegedly took the child and never returned him. Since that day, she has been unable to reach either the father or his partner. The emotional post that followed — accompanied by the boy’s photos — set off the public search now gripping Pattaya.

Official silence amid growing online pressure

Local police have not issued an official statement regarding the case, and no formal charges have been announced. The absence of confirmation has left social media users speculating and calling for authorities to step in.

For now, the mother’s plea continues to circulate across Thailand’s online communities, where supporters share updates and rumors in equal measure.

“WHERE IS THE CHILD, AND WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?”

one widely shared comment asked — a question still unanswered in Pattaya’s latest family drama.
