SRI RACHA, THAILAND – A mother was left critically injured after a collision caused by a motorcyclist riding against oncoming traffic on a busy Sri Racha road during the morning rush hour.
Morning routine ends in disaster
The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. on October 31st, 2025, along Sri Racha–Nong Kho Road in Moo 5, Chonburi Province, as a mother and her young son were on their way to school. Their journey was violently interrupted when another rider, traveling in the wrong direction, cut abruptly across lanes and blocked their path.
According to rescue officials, three people were injured, including the mother, identified as Ms. Ornicha Yatbamrung, 30, who suffered a severe head wound and was found unconscious. Her son, a schoolboy seated behind her, escaped with minor abrasions. The third injured person was Mr. Jamras Krasaesom, 52, the motorcyclist accused of riding against traffic. He sustained head injuries and multiple scrapes.
Swift emergency response
Local authorities and rescue teams from the Sawang Prateep Sri Racha Rescue Center arrived quickly after receiving reports of a serious motorcycle crash. They were supported by an ambulance unit from Somdej Phra Borommarajathewi Hospital at Sri Racha, known locally as the “Lanthom” emergency unit, and officers from the Sri Racha Police Station.
Two overturned motorcycles were discovered at the site: a black Honda Wave bearing license plate Khor Thor 560 from Ubon Ratchathani Province and another black Honda Wave registered in Chonburi, license plate 3 Kor 4824.
Ms. Ornicha and her son were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, while Mr. Jamras received medical attention for his injuries at the scene before being taken for further care.
CCTV clarifies fault
Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from nearby cameras that showed Mr. Jamras riding against the flow of traffic before crossing the median and halting amid slow-moving vehicles. When he attempted to move left across the road, he cut into the direct path of Ms. Ornicha’s motorcycle, which was traveling legally in its lane.
The footage captured the moment of impact as the two bikes collided, throwing all three riders to the ground. Police stated that the collision occurred in the middle of Mr. Jamras’s bike, consistent with a side impact caused by his illegal maneuver.
Conflicting statement disputed by police
When questioned later, Mr. Jamras told officers that he had been riding normally and had simply been turning left when the mother and child struck his motorcycle from behind. However, police confirmed that this account did not match the video evidence.
According to investigators, the CCTV recording provided clear and undeniable proof that Mr. Jamras was traveling in the wrong direction and was responsible for causing the crash. “

a police spokesperson said.
“THE VIDEO SHOWS THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS CLEARLY, AND LEGAL ACTION WILL PROCEED AGAINST THE AT-FAULT PARTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW.”

Authorities indicated that charges will be filed against the rider considered at fault. Local safety organizations have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during busy school commute hours.
