SRI RACHA, THAILAND – A confrontation between two Myanmar nationals in a residential building in Sri Racha ended with one man critically wounded and another in police custody.
Police in Chonburi province said the altercation, which took place around 7 p.m. on October 28th, 2025, was triggered by a long-simmering dispute over a romantic relationship involving the suspect’s sister.
Knife attack after personal feud
Rescue teams responding to emergency calls arrived at a four-storey condominium located near Nong Kham Police Station. According to officers from the Pureiyangtai Sri Racha Rescue Center, they found the injured man, Mr. Ang Phiang Pha Yae, 30, being helped down from the upper floor by residents. He had sustained serious stab wounds beneath his left ribcage and on his elbow.
Emergency medics from Somdej Phra Boromratchathewi Hospital’s Lantorn emergency unit provided immediate treatment at the scene before transferring him to hospital for further care. His condition was later described as stable but serious.
Suspect surrendered without resistance
The alleged attacker, identified as Mr. Ta Pai, 22, remained at the apartment and surrendered to officers without incident. Investigators said he bore only minor injuries to his chin. Police recovered a folding knife believed to have been used in the assault and observed extensive traces of blood in the hallway and stairwell.
Authorities required an interpreter during questioning as both men, and their relatives, reportedly spoke no Thai. Preliminary interviews suggested that the conflict arose over Ms. Thin Thin Nwe, 27, the suspect’s older sister. The woman shared the same condominium unit with her brothers and had been romantically pursued by the victim, despite the younger brother’s repeated objections.
Argument escalated into violence
Investigators learned that the victim had come to visit Ms. Thin Thin Nwe that evening. When confronted at the doorway by Mr. Ta Pai, an argument turned physical in the corridor. Moments later, the younger man allegedly drew his knife and struck twice before retreating inside the apartment.

Investigation under way

Local officers noted that work-related and personal tensions occasionally flare among migrant workers living in close quarters in Thailand’s eastern industrial region. Sri Racha, a coastal district of Chonburi, is home to thousands of Myanmar nationals employed in nearby factories and service industries.
