PHUKET, THAILAND – Police arrested a married couple and confiscated hundreds of methamphetamine tablets and crystal meth after raiding a resort in Pa Khlok, Thalang district, authorities said.
Resort raid
Thalang police said they acted on a confidential tip and stormed the holiday property in Pa Khlok. Officers found evidence that the resort had been used as a base for drug distribution, and detained the couple, identified as Mr. Dod, 50, and Ms. Nok, 43.
Evidence seized
During the operation police seized 662 methamphetamine tablets, commonly referred to as Yaba, and 30.2 grams of crystal meth. They also recovered two mobile phones and two items linked to drug consumption. The quantity and variety of items led investigators to treat the find as more than personal use.
“The quantity indicates commercial distribution, not just personal use,” a police spokesperson said, describing the haul as consistent with organised sales rather than isolated possession.
Investigation and charges
The couple were taken to Thalang police station and were to be charged with communal possession of Category-1 drugs with intent to distribute, a serious offence under Thai law. Police said the case would be pursued rigorously, and that those convicted of large-scale drug distribution risk long prison sentences.
Authorities characterised the operation as a clear example of how criminal activity can be concealed in tourist settings. “This operation shows we are vigilant in tourist areas,” the police spokesperson added, stressing that Phuket must remain a safe destination.

Pa Khlok is usually regarded as a quiet, family-friendly area of Phuket, and the discovery prompted concern among residents and visitors. Police highlighted the swift arrest as evidence that law enforcement was monitoring even peaceful resort areas for illicit activity.
The raid underscored ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat drug trafficking on the island. Still, the incident raised broader questions about how criminal networks may exploit tourist properties to mask distribution, and how authorities can reassure both locals and tourists of their safety.
