Foreigner Narrowly Escapes Fiery Car Inferno in Phuket

Firefighters Respond to Nighttime Emergency

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on October 9, Rawai Municipality’s fire department received an urgent call: residents had witnessed a Ford vehicle erupting in flames on Wiset Road. Two fire engines were immediately dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze.

Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with a dramatic sight—the front of the car was already fully engulfed in flames. Acting swiftly, the team managed to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes. However, the Ford was completely destroyed, with no chance of salvage.

Driver Suffers Smoke Inhalation

The driver, identified as a foreign national, managed to escape the burning vehicle just in time but suffered from smoke inhalation. Emergency responders transported him to Bangkok Hospital Phuket for treatment.

His condition was described as stable, though he was visibly shaken by the ordeal. Miraculously, no one else was injured, as the burning car was parked at the roadside and did not endanger other vehicles.

Cause of Fire Remains Unclear

Fire investigators began their work immediately after the flames were extinguished, examining the charred remains of the vehicle to determine the cause of the fire. It is still unknown whether a technical fault or human error triggered the incident.

The Ford, registered in Phuket, reportedly belonged to the injured foreigner. Investigators are now considering whether the car was an older model, potentially more susceptible to technical issues.

Rawai Firefighters Praised for Professional Response

Thanks to the rapid intervention of Rawai’s firefighters, the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby vehicles or buildings. For the foreign driver, however, the journey on Wiset Road ended in the hospital—and his car reduced to a burnt-out wreck.
