East Pattaya Family Battles Eviction After Surprise Auction
A family in East Pattaya is fighting to stay in their home after paying 1.5 million baht, only to face eviction following a legal auction. The case has sparked a plea for help from 24-year-old Suthipong Nanta, who says his family is being treated unfairly.
Home Payments Ignored in Sudden Legal Dispute
Suthipong Nanta, a resident of Nong Pla Lai subdistrict in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri, shares his family’s ordeal on social media. He posts a video showing police and officials arriving at their home with documents demanding they leave.
The property, located in a private housing estate, was mortgaged by the original developer. When the developer defaulted, the Department of Legal Execution seized and auctioned the house.
Suthipong explains, “We’ve invested our life savings into this home. We are not squatters; we are victims.”
Years of Payments, Then a Shock
The family began making instalment payments in 2015 after signing a purchase contract with the developer. Over five years, they paid about 1.5 million baht of the agreed 3 million baht price and moved in by 2017.
In 2020, they discovered the developer had mortgaged the house to a financial institution. Uncertain about their rights, they stopped payments and sought answers.
Last year, the Legal Execution Department auctioned the property. The new buyer’s representatives arrived in 2025, demanding the family vacate within three days.
Plea for Dignity and Justice
Suthipong refuses to leave without a proper court order, insisting the family’s payments should be recognized. During the dispute, police briefly detained him, mistakenly believing he was linked to the developer. He was released after the court cleared him of any connection.
Currently, Suthipong and his siblings remain in the house. Their parents have left due to stress and threats. The siblings now enter their home by climbing through locked gates.
“I just want the police to speak with us, give us two to three months to prepare, and allow us to leave with dignity. We’ve paid over a million baht. We deserve that much,” Suthipong says.
Calls for Local Authorities to Act
Suthipong is now urging local and national agencies to step in and prevent further hardship for his family. The Pattaya family’s fight for justice continues, as they hope for intervention before they lose everything.
