A seemingly routine visit by a foreign tourist ignited a shocking street brawl in Chon Buri, involving over 15 employees from a karaoke bar and a nearby massage salon. The dispute erupted as both sides fought to secure the customer for themselves, leaving locals and tourists stunned.
Handheld phone footage shared widely on social media captured the chaotic scene. Outside a massage parlor on Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip, fists flew in all directions. Three men, two transgender women, and several karaoke staff members attacked five massage employees, while some onlookers recorded the spectacle instead of intervening.
Injuries and Desperation at the Massage Salon
Siriwimon Khamwan, 51, owner of the massage shop, revealed the toll: “Five of my staff were injured,” she told reporters. Despite the violence, she is not pursuing criminal charges and hopes for a peaceful resolution. “It was just a stupid misunderstanding,” she explained.
Her fear is not just for the immediate aftermath. Several employees have already resigned, anxious about future attacks. Siriwimon warns: “Without a lasting solution, incidents like this could ruin my business.”
How the Dispute Escalated
The clash began when a regular foreign visitor parked outside Siriwimon’s massage salon. As customary, the staff greeted him, but the man declined: “I’m meeting a friend at the karaoke bar,” he explained.
A massage worker followed him to the karaoke venue to chat, inadvertently igniting suspicion. The karaoke employees believed the visitor was being poached and stormed the massage parlor in anger, even though the foreigner was already inside their bar.
Siriwimon admitted, “There had been verbal spats before, but nothing like this. This time it escalated completely.”
Police Investigate, But No Charges Yet
Despite clear video evidence, karaoke staff have not filed complaints. Siriwimon did report the incident but remains focused on mediation rather than prosecution.
Police officers at the scene confirmed the events and are investigating the case for assault and breach of peace. In Thailand, public brawls can be pursued by authorities even without formal charges, which applies in this instance.
