Suvarnabhumi Airport Hits 4 Stars

Official 4-star recognition

On 12 September 2025, Skytrax, the UK-based aviation consulting firm, officially awarded Suvarnabhumi Airport a 4-star rating. Paveena Jariyathitiphong, CEO of Airports of Thailand (AOT), praised the recognition: “This confirms our commitment to meeting the needs of global travellers.”

The upgrade reflects improvements across service areas, especially in passenger-facing roles. Ground staff, immigration officers, and security personnel contributed to creating consistently positive experiences for travellers.

Technology and comfort upgrades

Suvarnabhumi has embraced modern technology to enhance passenger convenience:

  • Automated passport control systems

  • Faster check-in management

  • High-speed Wi-Fi throughout terminals

  • Additional charging stations for electronic devices

Facilities have also been upgraded, including modernised restrooms, improved signage, and more comfortable waiting areas.

Looking ahead

Plans are underway to introduce children’s zones, gaming areas, co-working spaces, and contemporary art exhibitions to further enrich the passenger experience. Currently serving over 60 million passengers annually, the airport remains a key hub for both domestic and international flights.

“This strengthens confidence in our position as a major regional aviation hub,” Paveena added. “Our goal is to continue improving and eventually achieve 5-star status.”

Suvarnabhumi’s new 4-star rating demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to world-class airport standards, combining efficiency, comfort, and innovation for travellers.
