Student Dies After Mall Suicide

Tragic Jump at Bangkok Mall

Nonthaburi – A 21-year-old university student leapt to his death on Friday evening following a shocking voyeurism scandal. Punnapop had secretly filmed under a woman’s skirt at Central Westgate Mall in Bang Yai. When the woman discovered him and raised the alarm, chaos erupted.

In a panic, the student hurled his iPad and black bag over the railing before plunging from the fourth floor. He landed on the tiled floor of the food court, in full view of horrified families. Witnesses described the impact as “like a thunderclap,” with screams echoing throughout the mall. Emergency responders attempted resuscitation on the scene, but he later died at Kasemrad Rattanatibeth Hospital from severe head trauma and internal bleeding.

Final Confession to Mother Reveals Online Horror

The true horror emerged after his death. Minutes before his fatal leap, Punnapop called his mother to make a chilling confession. According to Channel 7, he admitted he had been secretly filming voyeuristic videos at his university and public places for some time.

Shockingly, he claimed to be part of a secret online group pressuring him to produce this content. Members allegedly threatened and blackmailed him into providing material continuously. “He felt trapped and scared,” said his grieving mother. His final call served as a farewell, exposing a disturbing organized cybercrime network exploiting young people.

Police Launch Hunt for Online Blackmailers

Colonel Siriphop Anusiri, head of Bang Yai Police Station, confirmed the student’s death and announced a full investigation. Authorities will forensically examine his iPad and other devices to trace evidence of the alleged online extortion group.

The case highlights Thailand’s growing online voyeurism industry, where desperate individuals, driven by the struggling economy, seek quick money. Perpetrators reportedly use membership platforms in countries like Russia to sell illegal recordings from Bangkok and other cities.

Mall in Shock – Security Tightened

Central Westgate Mall remains reeling from the incident. Security patrols have been increased, especially near escalators and restrooms. Management is fully cooperating with authorities and providing surveillance footage.

Eyewitnesses recall the horror: “I turned and saw him hit the floor. People screamed. Some ran. I’ve never seen anything like it,” said one. Another described it as “surreal… one second he was on the fourth floor, the next he was lying on the ground.”

The woman who caught the filming was unharmed but deeply shaken. Security and mall staff assisted her in filing a report. The incident has sparked nationwide debate online, with calls for stricter penalties for voyeurs and immediate action against online exploitation. Mental health experts urge better support systems for students caught in such digital traps, both victims and those coerced into committing crimes.
