Hidden stash uncovered
The Metropolitan Police announced the dramatic seizure at a press conference led by Police General Siam Boonsom. The drugs were hidden in a small hut opposite Soi Bang Kradi 43 in Bang Khun Thian, packed into 40 sacks of 20 kilograms each.
Officers also confiscated a pistol with 31 bullets, three vehicles used for transport, and 800,000 baht (£20,000) in cash. The three arrested suspects were identified as Noppadon “Jay” Pinkaeo (34), Angkarn “Karn” Chingklin (36), and Samrueng “Jack” Kantsing (38).
How the operation unfolded
The raid followed months of investigation into a criminal network operating in the Rama II area after an arrest in August. Surveillance revealed multiple vehicles traveling from Rama II Road toward Chai Nat Province and back to Bangkok. Police tracked the convoy to Bang Khun Thian, where suspicious unloading led to the discovery of the massive meth stash.
During interrogation, Noppadon admitted ordering the drugs from a northern network and directing transport to the hiding place. Angkarn and Samrueng confirmed he oversaw logistics while they assisted with storage and delivery. The gang reportedly used the code “R 1688” to mark packages linked to their operation.

Police General Siam revealed that the operation was directed by a ringleader in a neighbouring country. The stash was intended to be stored in the hut for just three days before distribution.
The suspects face charges for possession of Category-1 drugs with intent to sell – a crime threatening public and national security. The Narcotics Suppression Bureau is now leading further investigations, including conspiracy and money-laundering charges against the wider network.
The 800kg haul highlights Thailand’s ongoing role as a key hub for international drug trafficking. While the quantity could have ensnared tens of thousands in addiction, the successful raid demonstrates that Thai authorities remain committed to tackling organised narcotics crime.
