SRI RACHA, THAILAND – Eighteen people were injured in a four-vehicle rear-end collision on Highway 331 in Sri Racha district, all of them migrant workers from Myanmar.
Four-vehicle collision on new highway section
The crash occurred on 7 February 2026 at around 7:30 a.m. on a newly built section of Highway 331 heading towards Mab Aeng, opposite the Pinthong Industrial Estate 3. Initial findings indicated that a white Isuzu tractor-trailer slammed into a pickup truck carrying workers, pushing it into two vehicles in front.
Rescue response and scene findings
Rescue teams from the Pure Ying Thai Rescue Center in Sri Racha responded together with officers from the Nongkham police station under the command of Pol. Lt. Col. Chiraphong Sitthithanyalaksana. At the scene, they found the tractor-trailer in the far-right lane with significant damage to its left front, along with three other damaged vehicles, including a heavily deformed white Isuzu worker-transport pickup.
Injuries to Myanmar workers and traffic impact
Inside the modified worker transport pickup were 18 nationals from Myanmar, all of whom suffered injuries such as head lacerations, swelling, bruises and general pain. After initial treatment at the roadside, all injured persons were taken without delay to hospitals in the Sri Racha area, while traffic on the busy route backed up for more than two kilometres.
Truck driver’s account of sudden lane change
The 36-year-old Jirayut Khamkhian, driver of the tractor-trailer with an empty container, stated he had been travelling at about 60 km/h in the right lane when the worker pickup suddenly changed from the middle lane into his path and then moved left directly in front of him.
“I braked but could no longer prevent the collision,”
said Jirayut Khamkhian, truck driver. According to his account, the pickup was pushed forward and crashed into another pickup and a car that had already begun to slow down.
Police investigation and legal steps
Police documented evidence at the crash site and summoned all involved drivers to the Nongkham station for further questioning. Investigators stated that proceedings were now being conducted under the applicable legal provisions to clarify responsibilities and any possible violations.
