Thailand is, according to NDTV Travel, the second most popular travel destination in Southeast Asia for 2025 – just behind Malaysia, with Vietnam close on its heels. But when it comes to global connectivity, the Kingdom takes the lead.
International airlines are capitalizing on the boom: New routes from Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East clearly show how strongly demand for travel to the Land of Smiles continues to rise.
Whether it’s a city trip to Bangkok, a beach getaway in Phuket, or an adventure in Northern Thailand – getting there is now easier. We’ll show you which airlines have launched new routes in 2025, what this means for travelers, and what trends can be seen as a result.
Europe: Winter Escape with Nonstop Connections
Europe remains a key market for tourism to Thailand – especially during the colder months. Airlines such as Norse Atlantic Airways, Air France, and Turkish Airlines are responding by expanding their route networks.
Norse Atlantic Airways launched a new nonstop service from London Gatwick to Bangkok on October 26 – with four flights per week. Just a few weeks later, starting November 26, a nonstop route between Manchester and Bangkok will follow for the first time – a first for both cities.
Travelers from Scandinavia have reason to celebrate as well: Starting in December, Norse will offer weekly nonstop flights from Oslo and Stockholm to Phuket – perfect for winter vacationers.
Air France will return in 2025 with a new nonstop service to Phuket. Starting November 27, the French carrier will operate three weekly flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Phuket using a Boeing 777-300ER. At the same time, the existing Paris–Bangkok route will be increased to twice daily during peak season.
Turkish Airlines is expanding its reach through so-called fifth-freedom flights: Starting December 10, a new route will connect Istanbul with Phnom Penh via Bangkok, three times a week. The segment Bangkok–Phnom Penh can also be booked separately – an exciting option for travel within Southeast Asia.
Additionally worth noting: British Airways resumed the London Gatwick–Bangkok route in late 2024 after a four-year break. In 2025, Austrian Airlines, ITA Airways, and Condor also increased the frequency of their flights to Thailand.
North America: Comeback of the U.S. Connection
Also from North America, there’s news: United Airlines will launch a daily service from the U.S. to Bangkok starting October 26, 2025 – with a stopover in Hong Kong.
The route will be operated with modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and marks the first U.S. airline connection to Bangkok in decades – a true milestone.
Canadian and Mexican airlines remain cautious: no new routes have been introduced. The seasonal Vancouver–Bangkok service by Air Canada was not resumed in 2025.
Asia-Pacific: Regional Flights on the Rise
Thailand is seeing the strongest growth in 2025 within the Asia-Pacific region – driven mainly by low-cost carriers and new source markets such as India, China, and Indonesia.
- Hainan Airlines launched a new connection from Chongqing to Bangkok on April 10, three times a week with Boeing 737-800.
- Thai VietJet Air started four weekly flights between Mumbai and Phuket from August 14 – the first direct connection of its kind, highlighting the growing Indian tourism market.
- Thai AirAsia has been flying four times a week from Phuket to Medan (Indonesia) since June 27 – expanding its regional ASEAN network.
The development shows: Phuket is increasingly establishing itself as an international hub, not only for European but also for Asian passengers.
Middle East: More Seats Through Fifth Freedom
In 2025, there will only be a few new nonstop routes from the Middle East to Thailand, but airlines like Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, and Flydubai are pursuing different strategies to expand their presence:
Emirates uses Bangkok as a stopover and launched new routes in June 2025 to Da Nang (Vietnam) and Siem Reap (Cambodia) – each continuing on to Dubai.
Etihad Airways is expanding its network with two new nonstop flights from Abu Dhabi to Thailand: starting October 9, 2025, flights will be offered to Krabi, and from November 3, 2025, to Chiang Mai. These new routes provide travelers with convenient access to two of the country’s most popular regions.
Other airlines such as Qatar Airways, Etihad, and Saudia also increased their frequencies and capacities – in some cases by deploying larger aircraft.
This development makes it clear: The flight options for travelers from the Middle East are expanding – whether through new routes or targeted increases on existing connections.
Thailand More Accessible Than Ever
With new routes, more frequencies, and growing competition among airlines, Thailand 2025 is more accessible than ever before:
