Rescue workers chase taxi driver in Bangkok

Video shows three to four medics hounding driver near MRT station, foundation suspends group

BANGKOK, Thailand – Multiple rescue workers allegedly chased and hounded a taxi driver in Bangkok. The man suffered serious injuries, the incident was caught on video and widely shared online.

The foundation responsible for the group ordered their suspension as police investigate. The taxi driver needed medical treatment after the attack.

Taxi driver seriously injured

The taxi driver suffered serious injuries and required medical treatment. His taxi was also damaged.

The car’s windows shattered, and damage to other parts of the vehicle was reported.

Chase to the MRT station

The incident happened on 12 August. According to initial reports, three to four rescue workers chased the taxi driver.

The confrontation continued to the Fai Chai MRT station. The driver sought help there and was surrounded and pressured by several workers near the coin exchange machine, as shown in footage circulating online.

Road rage triggered the fight

The trigger appears to have been a quarrel while driving. According to initial accounts, the parties cut each other off.

One vehicle reportedly tailgated the other. The exact circumstances of the escalation remain under investigation.

Both sides file police reports

After the incident, both the rescue workers and the taxi driver went to the police. Both sides filed complaints at Bang Khun Non police station.

Investigators are now checking the statements of all involved.

Foundation suspends rescue workers

After the video spread online, the foundation responsible for the rescue workers ordered the group’s suspension.

Those affected are not allowed to perform volunteer rescue services until further action is taken

said a representative of the foundation. Police continue to investigate how the confrontation started.
