Chinese tourist dies in Koh Larn bike plunge

Man, 51, killed after rented motorcycle goes off cliff on Pattaya island. Daughter injured.

KOH LARN, THAILAND – A 51-year-old Chinese man died on Koh Larn near Pattaya on August 6 after his rented motorcycle skidded off a sloping road and plunged down a cliff. His daughter, around 30, was injured and taken to Koh Larn Hospital.

The crash happened around 4pm on the road heading downhill from the wind turbine viewpoint. The bike flew over the road edge in a curve and was found below the cliff.

Rescuers find bike below cliff

Rescuers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya City discovered a Honda Click 125 with Bangkok license plates at the bottom. Wan Xuechun was found at the foot of the cliff and pronounced dead at the scene.

Daughter rushed to hospital

The Chinese passenger, around 30, survived the plunge but suffered injuries. Rescuers treated her at the scene before taking her to Koh Larn Hospital.

No further details were given about her condition. Police confirmed Wan Xuechun was a Chinese national.

Police reconstruct the ride

Initial investigations show Wan Xuechun and his daughter had rented the bike to drive to the wind turbine viewpoint. On the way back downhill, the vehicle reportedly lost control at a curve.

Police are continuing investigations into the cause. It was not explicitly stated who was driving the bike at the time of the crash.

Body held for family

Wan Xuechun’s body was moved to a hospital for storage. Authorities are working to contact relatives. Police are continuing investigations into the cause.
