PATHUM THANI, THAILAND – A concrete barrier depot has turned into an illegal sex meeting spot. On July 29, reporters discovered thousands of used condoms, scattered underwear, and lubricant on the site of the highway department. The trigger was complaints from motorists about nightly vehicle gatherings.
The discovery site is near Ratchaphruek Road in Bang Duea subdistrict. On the officially unused storage lot, staff found not just tissues and energy-drink bottles but also men’s and women’s underwear.
Thousands of condoms between concrete barriers
Workers at the highway department said trespassers got onto the area through gaps in the pile of concrete blocks. They believe the leftovers come from people using the site as a meeting point at night.
Motorists had raised concerns before the discovery. They reported that every evening a suspiciously high number of vehicles parked on the roadside heading toward Kanchanaphisek Road.
Motorists sound the alarm
Residents and commuters linked the nightly influx to possible illegal activities. They pushed for an inspection of the hard-to-see section.
After the finds became public, a patrol team moved in to inspect. The officers confirmed that masses of used condoms and clothing items lay scattered across the site.
Police announce raids
According to a report from the portal Naewna, police will now increase patrols. If people are caught breaking the law, they face legal consequences.
The users of the site had partly converted the barriers into shielded shelters. With mats as privacy screens and plastic sheets as roofs, they created makeshift retreats.

Highway department workers said they were alarmed. They see the remote spot directly on a public road as completely unsuitable for such activities and warn the area could become a scene of crime.
The entire property is not fenced in. This missing security makes unauthorised access much easier.
Intruders met with no resistance
The employees did watch strangers enter the site. But out of fear for their own safety, they did not intervene and avoided confrontation.
To permanently secure the place, fences or other barriers are now to be erected. The responsible Rural Roads Office wants to discuss the plans internally soon.
Highway office plans upgrades
However, the work cannot start immediately. First, a consultation with the leadership level of the authority is necessary before a specific security fence can be commissioned.
