Man killed crossing road, wife watches from songthaew

Crash victim hit by van then pickup on Bang Kruai-Sai Noi Road

BANG BUA THONG, NONTHABURI – A 46-year-old man was hit by a van and then run over by a pickup on Bang Kruai-Sai Noi Road. His wife watched from a songthaew.

Mr Su from Nakhon Si Thammarat died at the scene on the morning of July 29, 2026. His wife had just stepped into the songthaew seconds before the crash.

Wife saw the impact from close range

The crash happened around 5:50 am near a turnaround close to the new Bang Bua Thong municipal office. Mr Su had dropped his wife at a shared taxi stop and was crossing the road to get to his job at a steel factory.

The songthaew was still parked when the van hit the pedestrian. The wife watched the impact directly from the vehicle and was in severe shock.

Body found 100 metres from crash site

One colleague, aged 30, said Mr Su and his wife followed the same routine every morning. They left their home together in a nearby Soi, he waited with her for the songthaew, and then he crossed the road to the factory.

Rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation found the body about 100 metres from the crash site on the road’s central island.

Dashcam recorded the crossing

The driver of the Hyundai van told police he did not see the pedestrian before the collision. The van had a dented bonnet and a shattered windscreen.

The driver of the silver Isuzu pickup was coming from the opposite direction. He said an object that looked like a black bag suddenly flew toward his vehicle – he could not brake in time and ran over the man before stopping.

Police check both statements thoroughly

Officers from Bang Bua Thong station secured the dashcam footage from the Hyundai van. The video clearly shows Mr Su entering the road and being struck. The victim’s full name is only known as Mr Su.

Police are questioning both drivers to clarify the exact sequence of the crash and possible responsibility. The body was sent for an autopsy at the Central Institute of Forensic Science.

Investigation and next steps

Police are carrying out investigations into the drivers’ statements.
