PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, THAILAND – A Canadian national has been arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse.
Anti-trafficking police apprehended a 68-year-old Canadian man on June 1. He is suspected of raping and sexually abusing a 15-year-old student during private tutoring sessions in October 2025. An arrest warrant was issued by the Sikhio Provincial Court on January 22.
Arrest on Site
Officers from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) located the man in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. He was sought following the outstanding arrest warrant.
The police, acting on investigative leads, found the man at the residence of a foreign friend. He was taken into custody to be presented before the court.
Allegations of Abuse During Private Tutoring
The accused previously worked as a math teacher and vice-director at an international school in Nakhon Ratchasima. Parents had hired him for three years to provide private tutoring at their home.
According to the complaint, on October 20, 2025, he allegedly lured the 15-year-old student into a bedroom. It is reported that he then sexually assaulted and raped her.
Evidence Secured
Following the alleged assault, the teenager informed her parents. They subsequently took her to the Pak Chong police station to file a report.
Investigators reportedly secured video clips and pornographic images from the suspect’s phone as part of the evidence. These findings were documented in the case files. The ATPD played a crucial role in gathering these materials.
Family Sought Help from Aid Organization
The parents reached out to The HUG Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting abused children. They also contacted the ATPD for assistance.
The collaboration between the aid organization and the police was instrumental. This led to the issuance of the arrest warrant and the subsequent prosecution of the case.
Bail, Sale of Possessions, and Attempted Flight
During the ongoing legal proceedings, the suspect was initially granted temporary release on bail. He reportedly then began selling personal belongings, including gold. This action appeared to be an attempt to fund an escape.
Investigators later located him in hiding and apprehended him. The sale of assets is a key point in the prosecution’s case against the suspect.
Transfer to Sikhio Provincial Court
During questioning, the suspect reportedly stated he had argued with his Thai girlfriend and was only seeking peace, not attempting to flee from the police. His explanation was recorded by authorities.
Authorities have transferred him to the Sikhio Provincial Court. He will now face trial proceedings there.
