SAMUT PRAKAN, THAILAND – A 26-year-old man was apprehended for attempted theft after trying to steal a gold bracelet to cover accident damages.

The suspect, identified as Surasak, 26, was discovered inside the Yaowarat Bang Phli Gold shop after the doors were locked by staff. He reportedly attempted to flee while trying on the bracelet. The store personnel then locked the doors, leading to the police being called to the scene.
The man was apparently unable to cover the costs associated with a recent traffic accident. He had reportedly driven against the direction of traffic, according to the police.

Pol Lt Col Pawat Ratanaporn, deputy inspector at the Bang Phli Station, stated that the man had recently caused an accident by driving the wrong way. The suspect told police he acted out of desperation to raise 200,000 Baht for the accident repairs.
