Thailand Denies Ebola Reports

Government confirms no cases of the virus in the country amid misinformation.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – The government has vehemently denied reports of Ebola entering the country, refuting widespread misinformation.

Deputy government spokesperson Ploytalay Laksamisaengchan confirmed on Saturday that no Ebola cases have occurred in Thailand. She dismissed claims that the virus had reached the country as false.

The Anti-Fake News Center Thailand identified the report as one of the most widespread pieces of misinformation. The government’s response aimed to quell public concerns fueled by social media.

A woman arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday was transferred to the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute by the Department of Disease Control. Health authorities conducted an interview and a health assessment.

Following the assessment, health officials found no indication of exposure to the disease. The traveler had already booked a return flight to her home country and was classified as not a risk by authorities.

53 Reisende überwacht – kein Verdachtsfall

Monitoring data indicated that 53 individuals from affected areas entered Thailand between May 21 and May 25, 2026. None of these individuals met the criteria for investigation as a suspected Ebola case.

Official checks by authorities confirmed that no further measures against contagion were necessary. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
