On May 30, 2026, dozens of students, parents, health volunteers, farmers, and residents gathered to highlight the poor condition of the road. They expressed fears of increased accidents as the school year was about to resume, with the damaged stretch used daily by many.
Damage Spanning Nearly Three Kilometers
Local representative Phanuwat Sriwihok led reporters to the nearly 2,750-meter section of road, pointing out significant pavement damage in various segments. Motorists unfamiliar with the road often had to swerve to avoid obstacles, nearly going off the edge. One resident reportedly fell off his motorbike while traveling slowly, transporting galangal roots.

A yellow project sign indicated the work involved was the “Construction and Improvement of Asphalt Concrete Roadway, Section Ban Tha Liap (Moo 2 to Moo 14) to Ban Ang Toei (Moo 9), length 2,750 meters.” The project’s budget was 12,899,836.97 Baht. Construction began on May 14, 2024, with a scheduled completion of September 10, 2025. The warranty period extends from May 2025 to August 6, 2027.
Criticism of Contractor’s Patchwork Repairs
Residents stated that the contracted construction company had only carried out temporary patchwork, which they believe exacerbated the damage rather than fixing it. Phanuwat also urged Phaitoon Ningnong of the Tha Kradan Tambon Administration Organization to push the Chachoengsao Provincial Administration Organization for the necessary remedial work.
Danger to Traffic and Daily Life
The broken road forces vehicles to maneuver around hazards, compromising traffic flow and leading to repeated accidents. The road is considered a primary route for several villages, fueling ongoing resident concerns about further incidents.
