Teen arrested for assaulting mother in Chaiyaphum

Suspect allegedly under influence of alcohol and methamphetamine during May 25 incident; history of violence revealed.

CHAIYAPHUM, THAILAND – A teenager was arrested in Chaiyaphum for allegedly sexually assaulting his mother on May 25 under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine. The case was reported the following morning and brings drug problems, previous violent acts, and a prior stay at a juvenile centre back into the village spotlight.

Arrest after alleged assault

Police arrested the teenager following investigations into the assault on May 25 in the Kaset Sombun district. The charge is sexual coercion against a parent.

The case was reported to the Ban Deua Police Station after the mother filed a complaint the next morning. Officers conducted a crime scene reconstruction in which the accused made statements.

Mother describes violence and fear of death

The mother told investigators her son entered her room, hit her, and carried out the assault. She said she offered no further resistance out of fear he might kill her.

After the incident, the suspect reportedly fetched his older brother to return to the house and sleep in the same room. The mother consulted a neighbour in the morning before driving to the police.

Confession during crime scene reconstruction

During the crime scene reconstruction, the teenager admitted to the assault and cited his intoxication from alcohol and methamphetamine as the reason. He reportedly told investigators he lost control.

According to police, the accused also threatened further violence if his mother did not comply. Officers also suspect he distributed methamphetamine to other youths in the village.

Previous convictions and attacks on neighbours

Local records show a long history of violence and disturbances: even in primary school, the boy was noticed for repeated altercations, and in early 2025, he allegedly attacked a 66-year-old neighbour. The man reportedly fled into a neighbouring house.

Shortly after, he allegedly attacked the neighbour’s wife; the elderly woman spent a week in hospital with a nearly broken jaw. The family home reportedly shows damage attributed to the accused.

Stay at juvenile centre and return in February

After the earlier attacks, village heads, health authorities, and the Ban Deua Police Station coordinated the transfer of the youth to the Nakhon Ratchasima juvenile observation and protection centre. He remained there for eight months.

The teenager was released and returned to the village on February 27 of this year. Residents said his behaviour had not improved after the return.

Charges and demand for harsh punishment

The suspect was charged with rape of a parent and transferred to the Chaiyaphum Juvenile and Family Court for further legal review. The mother had previously filed a formal complaint at the Ban Deua Police Station.

Neighbours, including the previously injured elderly man, are calling on the police to pursue the case with the full force of the law.
