BANGKOK, THAILAND – A dispute over a passenger escalated into a dangerous knife attack between two motorcycle taxi drivers on Tuesday evening in Bangkok. A foreign passenger was caught in the middle of the bloody conflict and had to flee to safety.
Bloody Street Brawl
Dramatic scenes unfolded in the Bang Bon district around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Two motorcycle taxi drivers chased each other until they stopped at the entrance of Soi Kamnan Maen 11 in front of a food stall.
A witness observed a driver in a black shirt suddenly draw a knife. After a brief verbal exchange, he attacked his opponent, who was wearing a brown shirt, and injured him on the arm.
Passenger Flees into Supermarket
A foreign passenger was still sitting on one of the motorcycles during the attack. The tourist remained uninjured but suffered severe shock and immediately ran away from the scene.
The frightened passenger sought shelter in a nearby supermarket. A papaya salad vendor later confirmed that the foreigner was visibly shaken by the events.
Brave Witness Ends Knife Attack
Despite his cut wound, the driver in the brown shirt tried to wrestle the weapon from his attacker. He called loudly for help while onlookers blocked traffic to watch the fight.
A passing motorcyclist showed civil courage and intervened. He managed to take the knife and permanently removed the dangerous weapon from the scene.
Rivalry Leads to Heavy Fines
The injured driver stated that he had picked up the tourist in the Sathorn district. The attacker had provoked him and aggressively asked which booking app he was using.
Both men later filed a report at Bang Khun Thian police station. The officers imposed a fine of 5,000 baht on both participants for taking part in a brawl.
