BANGKOK, Thailand – Sudden cancellations and schedule changes on Thai AirAsia X flights to Osaka left many May holiday plans in ruins.
Holiday plans in ruins
In Thai online travel groups there was intense concern as reports of disruption mounted. Many passengers who had planned trips to Japan in May saw their carefully arranged itineraries put at risk.
The route from Bangkok-Don Mueang to Osaka Kansai Airport appeared to be particularly affected. Travellers said flights were shifted without warning or removed from the timetable altogether.
Shocks delivered by the app
Passengers complained that they received no email or SMS notification about the changes. Instead, they discovered the disruption only when they briefly checked the airline app.
One affected traveller described how his outbound flight was simply pushed back by two days. With that change, most of the time he had set aside for his long-awaited holiday virtually disappeared.
Airport nightmare
For some customers, the trip to Don Mueang Airport turned into an ordeal. They reported standing in line for hours, only to see even their replacement flights cancelled again.
A passenger said his rebooked flight was altered in the morning and then cancelled again by the evening. Frustration over the lack of reliability from Thai AirAsia X was described as enormous.
Airline falls silent
Communication with the carrier was portrayed as extremely difficult. Many customers said the airline’s hotline was effectively unreachable.
One user compared the situation to the company having simply unplugged the phone line.
“It feels as if the airline just pulled the phone cable out of the wall.”
said one frustrated passenger, who complained there was hardly any help or clear information.
Gaps in the May schedule
A look at the May flight plan revealed alarming gaps on the Bangkok–Osaka route. On several days, including the 1st to 4th and many dates in the middle and at the end of the month, there apparently were no flights at all.
The airline allowed free rebooking for those affected, according to passengers. However, for many, this was only a weak consolation given the stress and uncertainty around their travel plans.
Your experience?
The situation raised broader questions about how travellers cope when flights vanish without warning. Some online users asked others to share how they had dealt with similar problems in the past.
“Have you ever had a flight cancelled without prior warning? How did you handle the anger and the airline?”
said one community post in a travel group, calling for more people to report their experiences.
