Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand – A 28-year-old Thai woman and a male friend allegedly planned and carried out the killing of her ex-partner on the M6 motorway, police said.
Victim killed on M6 motorway
On 28 March 2026, 30-year-old Suppakorn “Golf” Traiphopklang was found dead on the M6 motorway in Nakhon Ratchasima province. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Police secured video footage from the scene and, after reviewing the material, identified a vehicle used by two people. The vehicle became the starting point for further investigations.
Suspects identified and arrested
Officers identified the suspects as Kueakool Sombat (28) and Chomphunuch Huajaiphet (28). Kueakool was arrested on 1 April at his residence in Lop Buri province.
According to police, Kueakool described Chomphunuch as a close friend. She was also said to be the victim’s former partner, and her relationship with Golf became a central line of inquiry.
Confession and alleged motive
Kueakool admitted to police that he had shot Golf and stated that Chomphunuch had planned the crime. According to his account, she had not accepted the end of the relationship and allegedly wanted Golf killed after he began a new partnership.
Initially, she was said to have asked Kueakool to arrange a contract killer for 35,000 baht. He later agreed to carry out the act himself.
Local news agency Khaw Khorach additionally reported that Kueakool had harboured romantic feelings for Chomphunuch, which allegedly influenced his willingness to be involved.
Weapon and vehicle traced to suspect’s family
Police found that the vehicle used in the crime and the firearm involved allegedly belonged to Kueakool’s father. These circumstances were being examined as part of the ongoing investigation into the planning of the killing.
Video analysis also showed that the vehicle drove from the crime scene area towards Lop Buri after the shooting. Officers were able to narrow down Kueakool’s whereabouts based on this route.
Reconstructed course of events
According to police, the two suspects allegedly followed the victim’s car on the motorway. Chomphunuch was said to have rammed Golf’s vehicle to force it to stop.
When the victim got out, Kueakool allegedly fired several shots before both suspects fled in the SUV. This version was based on the detained suspect’s statements and the evaluated video material, while police continued to review further evidence to clarify the exact sequence.
Alleged instigator dies while fleeing
Kueakool told officers that, during their escape, Chomphunuch had announced her intention to take her own life. She allegedly stopped the vehicle and left the motorway, after which Kueakool drove on alone to Lop Buri.
On 2 April, police found Chomphunuch’s body at the location described by Kueakool. Authorities believed she had died by suicide while on the run, though a final determination was still pending.
Investigation status: suspect in pre-trial detention
Police stated that Kueakool was in a psychologically fragile condition and was being closely monitored in custody. Pre-trial detention was ordered against him.
The investigation now focused on the exact circumstances of the planning, the procurement of the vehicle and the roles of both suspects. Official information so far was based on video analysis, physical evidence and the statements of the detained man.
