Naked foreigner arrested on Pattaya roadside

Police detained an allegedly drunk man after damage to a decorative statue and public disturbance on Thap Phaya Road.

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A naked foreign man caused a roadside disturbance in Pattaya and damaged a decorative statue outside a home before being arrested by police, who reported clear signs of heavy intoxication and multiple complaints.

Alarm on Thap Phaya Road

Police from the Mueang Pattaya Police Station were called to Thap Phaya Road near Soi Phra Tamnak 5 after callers reported a naked man on the street.

Officers described him as heavily intoxicated, shouting and barely understandable, while he allegedly harassed motorists and pedestrians.

Fear among residents and businesses

Business owners along the road told police the situation had frightened many people and disrupted operations.

Owners of Thai restaurants said they had feared the man might also cause property damage in his agitated state.

Arrest and failed initial questioning

Officers restrained the man and transported him on the back of a pickup truck to the police station.

According to police, he was unable to answer meaningfully during the first questioning or provide his personal details, leaving his identity and nationality initially unknown.

Complaint over damaged statue

Later, a Thai woman named Kanlaya filed a complaint, stating that the foreigner had damaged a decorative statue in front of her house.

She estimated the damage at 30,000 to 35,000 baht and handed over CCTV footage to police as evidence.

Video shows scene outside the house

The video showed the man first interacting with the statue and then shaking it repeatedly until the head came off.

The falling head reportedly struck him on the head before he left the scene and was noticed again shortly afterwards on the street.

Legal provisions now in play

According to a report by Channel 7, the man was charged with disorderly conduct in a public place under the influence of intoxicants, which under Section 378 carries a fine of up to 5,000 baht.

In addition, he was accused under Section 397 of harassing, bullying, intimidating or embarrassing other people, which also carries a possible fine of up to 5,000 baht.

Police wait until man can communicate

Police stated that the man would remain at the station until he was able to communicate again and could be informed of the allegations.

Only then was it to be clarified what exactly had happened at the scene and how any further proceedings, such as for property damage, would develop.

Pattaya and recurring public incidents

On 9 March, another naked foreigner in Pattaya was seen in a viral video running without clothes along a Beach Road.

Witnesses told media reports he had been running as if fleeing from danger, but no further details of that case became known.
