PATTAYA, THAILAND – Pattaya’s mayor Poramese Ngampiches welcomed 77 contestants of Miss Grand Thailand 2026 at city hall, giving the pageant an official reception as part of a broader tourism push.
City hall reception sets festive tone
A festive mood prevailed in Meeting Room 401 of city hall on 11 March as Mayor Poramese Ngampiches and his leadership team received the contestants of Miss Grand Thailand 2026. The reception formally marked the start of the pageant’s activities in the coastal city.
The participants were accompanied by representatives of Miss Grand International Public Company Limited, which coordinated the visit as the opening element of the training camp and related events in Pattaya. The gathering signalled close cooperation between the pageant organisers and the municipal administration.
77 provinces on show in front of city leaders
During the meeting, contestants from all 77 provinces of Thailand introduced themselves one after another and engaged directly with city officials. The format was designed to create personal contact between the participants and the local authorities.
At the end of the event, group photos were taken to document the reception as an official gesture by the host city. According to organisers, the images were intended to give the contestants a clear sense of being welcomed in Pattaya.
Training camp highlights culture and lifestyle
The city hall visit formed part of a broader preparation and training camp through which the contestants were set to experience Pattaya via several programme points. Over the course of the camp, they were expected to become familiar with different facets of the city.
Planned activities focused on showcasing local culture and lifestyle while highlighting the city’s “world-class” tourism side. The aim was for images and messages about Pattaya to be shared as widely as possible, reinforcing its profile with potential visitors at home and abroad.
Special “Miss Pattaya City Favorite” round on 16 March
A key date in the schedule was the special competition round “Miss Pattaya City Favorite”, planned for 16 March 2026 at the Wyndham Jomtien Pattaya. This segment was positioned as a highlight within the broader Miss Grand Thailand programme.
There, the contestants were to present their talent, personality and charisma in front of a jury and fans. Pattaya intended to stage the event as an additional crowd-puller for the local tourism scene, drawing both residents and visitors.
Mayor backs pageants as tourism driver
Poramese Ngampiches said he was pleased about the visit and pledged municipal backing for creative initiatives that enhance Pattaya’s external image. According to the city leadership, pageant-related activities were seen as part of a wider strategy to strengthen the resort’s appeal.
He underlined the potential impact of the event on the city’s visitor numbers.
“Beauty pageant events like this bring color, energy, and crowds of visitors to our city,”
said Poramese Ngampiches, mayor of Pattaya.
He encouraged the contestants to highlight not only their outward appearance but also their inner qualities and to recommend the city after their stay. The administration linked the reception and pageant programme directly to efforts to promote Pattaya’s tourism image domestically and internationally.
