PATTAYA, THAILAND – Residents in Nong Prue detained a man in his 30s suspected of stealing a high-end motorcycle, easing tensions in a neighborhood unsettled by recent theft attempts.
Arrest in Soi Khao Talo 13
Around 9 p.m. on 26 February 2026, patrol officers from Nong Prue Police Station were alerted that a suspect was being held by residents at a house in Soi Khao Talo 13.
When officers arrived, they found Jirawat Chan, known as Rak and about 30 years old, tied up in front of the house. Next to him stood a white Ducati Monster with license plates from Chonburi province, which police said had been stolen shortly beforehand.
Owner tracks down stolen Ducati
The owner, Linlada Sawamichai (40), told media she had parked her Ducati at the Narita Guesthouse in Soi Khao Talo 22 when residents informed her that someone was pushing the motorcycle out of the alley.
She followed the trail and soon found her bike on a property in Soi Khao Talo 13, the suspect’s reported residence. Together with neighbors, she held him there until police took him into custody.

Second incident on the same day
According to police, CCTV footage from around 3:50 a.m. that same day showed Jirawat entering the premises of the Ano Car Care business and attempting to steal another motorcycle there.
The attempt failed when a staff member appeared, prompting the man to flee empty-handed. Investigators said the footage now provided additional evidence for the case.
Neighborhood concern and ongoing investigation
Police took the detained man to Nong Prue station, where he was being questioned and legal action was being prepared.
Investigators planned to review more video recordings and gather further information from the area to determine whether he was linked to other thefts in the Pattaya region.
Residents react
Residents of the neighborhood praised both the quick response of neighbors and the swift action by police, saying the arrest had eased tension after repeated theft attempts.
At the same time, concern about vehicle theft in Nong Prue persisted. Police were increasing their presence in the area and considering further measures to protect local residents.
Vigilance instead of looking away?
First there was a failed theft attempt in the early hours of the morning, then another attempt in the evening – this time involving a valuable Ducati. The neighborhood reacted quickly.
The case raised questions about whether citizens had prevented something worse or whether it showed how bold offenders had become. It also highlighted the debate over whether residents should intervene more often themselves, or whether such actions carried significant risks.
