RAYONG, THAILAND – Torrential rain on 27 February flooded large parts of Rayong province, hitting Pluak Daeng district hardest and leaving key roads under water as crews worked to stabilize the situation by pumping it away.
Scale of the flooding
Heavy rainfall on 27 February led to widespread flooding across Rayong province, with a particular concentration in Pluak Daeng district. Conditions there were regarded as the most critical hotspot, alongside smaller floods reported in other parts of the province.
Authorities said the water inundation spread over several areas, affecting both residential zones and traffic routes. The situation in Pluak Daeng stood out as the most severe in the province.
Blocked traffic routes
Several road sections were under water, especially the stretch from Magna to the Kawasaki Ltd. factory, where the carriageway was completely submerged. Traffic on this section was described by local authorities as fully blocked, with smaller vehicles no longer able to pass.
Other important routes in the area also faced severe disruption as rising water limited vehicle movement. Officials warned that the flooded factory corridor remained the most affected road segment in the district.
Dangerous spots in the district
Authorities identified multiple particularly dangerous flooded locations, including the Wang Ta Phin intersection. Both directions there were under water, and traffic was only moving at a walking pace.
The road in front of the Nang-Len shop was also flooded, while water levels at Klong Fai Ta Ae continued to rise. The section between Magna and the Kawasaki factory was considered the hardest hit and impassable for vehicles.
Warnings to residents
Residents were urgently asked to avoid the affected routes and to exercise special caution if travel was unavoidable. Emergency services strongly advised against driving vehicles through deep water.

Authorities at work
The disaster prevention and mitigation unit of Pluak Daeng municipality worked on site with the engineering department. Teams installed warning signs and helped manage traffic around the flooded areas.
In parallel, crews prepared water pumps to drain the most severely affected zones as quickly as possible. Their goal was to ease the situation by lowering water levels along the critical road sections.
Emergency calls and assistance
Local authorities, including the acting mayor of Pluak Daeng, were in the impact zone with disaster prevention and rescue teams. They assessed damage and coordinated immediate relief measures.
