SRI RACHA, THAILAND – A 14-year-old schoolgirl was in hospital in stable condition after falling from the fifth floor of her school building, as family and authorities focused on her recovery and an alleged TikTok scam linked to the incident.
Fall from school building and injuries
The student at Wat Nong Kho Community School, an eighth-grader and volleyball player, fell on 22 February 2026 from a bathroom window on the fifth floor of her school building, suffering leg injuries, back pain and bruises. She was treated at Somdet Phra Borom Ratchathewi Na Si Racha Hospital, where doctors found a small blood clot in her brain that needed monitoring for three to four days, while her back injuries required around two weeks of observation and her leg wounds had already been stitched.
Alleged TikTok scam and escalating demands
According to initial accounts from classmates and police, the girl was believed to have been lured via a TikTok advertisement into a fraud scheme that promised earnings for listening to music and then pushed her into making transfers as supposed deposits for promised rewards. She first transferred 100 baht, but the demands rose until she had borrowed about 3,600 baht from friends and her grandmother, before the perpetrators allegedly put her under severe time pressure by threatening a supposed lawsuit of more than 140,000 baht.
Mother describes panic and calls for justice
The mother, Paphatsarin Sriwiset, said in tears that her daughter had acted in panic and had been overwhelmed by fear of the threatened payments before losing control and jumping from the school building. She urged that there be consequences for the suspected perpetrators and said she hoped police would pursue the case thoroughly, as she feared

School visit and student’s worries about exams
School director Prapaisri Buachapo visited the girl in hospital on 23 February 2026 with teachers, met the mother and other relatives, and reported that the student was now able to speak and communicate with those around her. The girl was mainly worried about missing final examinations, but the director reassured her and the family that treatment came first and exams could be taken later, noting that as an athlete living in the school dormitory she was already under special supervision.
Planned safety measures and cybercrime probe
The school planned, together with the education committee and the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, to consider additional protection and awareness measures, including talks by cyber police or other experts on call-center fraud, even though mobile phones were generally banned at the school and only athletes like her had limited supervised access. In parallel, police were working to extract data from the girl’s mobile phone to trace payment flows and accounts of the suspected fraudsters in order to identify those behind the TikTok advertisement.
