BERLIN, GERMANY – German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier issued an unusually sharp attack on U.S. foreign policy, warning that the global order was at risk of collapsing into a lawless “robbers’ lair.”
Unprecedented rebuke of Washington
In a speech at a symposium, the largely ceremonial head of state used exceptionally blunt language to criticize the policy course of President Donald Trump. Although his office was mainly representative, his comments carried significant political weight.
