Police speedboat reunites tourist with bag

Pattaya tourist officers retrieved a Chinese visitor’s forgotten bag from Koh Larn the same day

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A forgotten bag belonging to a Chinese holidaymaker was returned intact after a swift response by Pattaya’s tourist police.

Bag left behind on Koh Larn

A Chinese visitor recently left his bag on a rental vehicle on the popular excursion island Koh Larn. He noticed the loss only after returning to the mainland in Pattaya. The tourist then went to the local tourist police and requested assistance.

Tourist police launch coordinated search

Officers from the tourist police unit, which is specialized in incidents involving international visitors, immediately took up the case and coordinated with the patrol team on Koh Larn. The local patrol checked the relevant rental business on site. According to police information, the bag was found there shortly afterward, and while valuables or documents were not specified, the luggage was considered important to the traveler.

Speedboat used for rapid return

To avoid keeping the visitor waiting, the officers organized the bag’s transport back from Koh Larn to Pattaya by speedboat. This meant the bag could be handed back to its owner on the same day. During the handover, police stated that all items inside were complete and undamaged, with no signs of loss or tampering.

Gratitude and role of tourist police

Authorities reported that the Chinese tourist was very impressed by the officers’ actions.

“He expressed his sincere thanks for the rapid and dedicated assistance of the tourist police,”

said officials from the tourist police. The incident underscored the role of the tourist police in Pattaya as a key point of contact for international guests, especially in cases of lost property or problems on nearby islands.

Small intervention, lasting impression

The case illustrated how a forgotten bag could potentially ruin an entire holiday. It also highlighted how minutes, commitment and communication can shape visitors’ impressions of a country. The report raised the question of whether precisely this kind of help is enough to build lasting trust among tourists, or whether much more visible everyday service is needed.
