PATTAYA, THAILAND – A temporary volunteer center in Chonburi offered free vehicle safety checks for holiday travelers at the turn of the year 2025/2026.
Volunteer center opened on key holiday route
The “Vocational-Transport Volunteer Center to Assist the Public for New Year 2026” opened on 30 December 2025 at 9 a.m. at a Shell petrol station on Route 6 near the Krating Lai intersection in Nong Pla Lai, Bang Lamung District. The location lay on a major traffic artery for travel in and around Pattaya and the coastal region, targeting people driving to visit family or tourist destinations over the holidays.
Provincial leadership stressed shared responsibility
The opening was led by Isara Charoenchasri, deputy governor of Chonburi province. According to organizers, he underlined that joint efforts were crucial to reduce road accidents during the festive period and said,
“The program brings together cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions and the community.”

Officials, police and colleges joined forces
Among those present were Sirames Phatchara-oriyathorn, director of Pattaya Technical College, and Wanchat Wannaphrom, the chief district officer of Bang Lamung. Local police, teachers, vocational students, village heads and representatives of involved agencies also attended the launch.
Free checks from brakes to lights
The center operated as a joint initiative between vocational education institutions and transport authorities. It offered free inspections for cars and motorcycles, including brake tests, checks of lighting systems, engine oil, tire condition and other safety-related components.
Students worked under professional supervision
The work was carried out by trained vocational students under the supervision of experienced teachers. This was intended to ensure professional standards while providing hands-on training opportunities for young technicians.
Reducing accidents and boosting traveler confidence
According to the deputy governor, the project aimed to reduce road accidents, strengthen travelers’ confidence and give vocational students practical experience. He stated,
“We want, on the one hand, to make the roads safer and, on the other hand, to give young professionals real work situations.”

Service remained free throughout the festive period
The service center stayed open throughout the New Year 2025/2026 holiday period at no cost to users. Drivers passing through the region were able to have their vehicles checked for roadworthiness before continuing home or on to their holiday destinations.
Authorities urged public to use the offer
Responsible agencies explicitly called on the public to make use of the service. Officials said that motorists who had their brakes, lights and other systems checked in good time contributed directly to safer roads during the festive season.
Preventive checks highlighted as key to relief
Authorities emphasized that such preventive inspections could help avert accidents and ease holiday traffic around the New Year. They framed the voluntary checks as a practical way to support road safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
