BANGKOK, THAILAND – Thailand and Cambodia agreed a new ceasefire after renewed border clashes that had sharply raised tensions earlier in the month.

According to the Associated Press, Thailand was to release 18 Cambodian soldiers who had been detained during the recent border confrontations. Bangkok also committed to clearing landmines along the shared frontier, a heavily mined area long seen as a safety risk for residents and security forces.
Mine clearance aimed at easing local security risks
The planned clearance was intended to launch concrete steps to defuse tensions on the ground.
