BANGKOK, THAILAND – A 36-year-old woman who had faced a murder charge died after falling from the 35th floor of a luxury condominium in Bang Na district, prompting a fresh police investigation.
Fatal fall at luxury condominium
Residents discovered the body of a woman known only as Ms Mint on the evening of 19 December beside Building E of the complex. Emergency responders reported two deep stab wounds to her neck; the tower has 35 floors and she had lived on the top level. A folding knife with a 15-centimetre blade was found nearby and secured by officers.
Cryptic farewell call before the death
Her boyfriend, Mr. Natthapong, 35, gave a detailed statement to police about events shortly before the incident. Around 11:45 p.m., Mint’s uncle called him after receiving an unsettling phone call from her.
“She called her uncle, said only ‘goodbye’ and then abruptly hung up the phone.”
said Natthapong, the victim’s boyfriend. Repeated attempts to call her back reportedly went unanswered, and when he rushed to the condominium he learned she was already dead.
Previous murder case resurfaces
Background checks carried out by police revealed that Mint had been charged with murder in February 2021. The alleged victim, known as “Kru Daeng”, was a 46-year-old Muay Thai trainer who had been found with his throat cut beside his car. An arrest warrant had been issued for Mint after she failed to appear for the verdict in that trial, and her death now raised new questions about the unresolved case.
Search of apartment yields medication
Investigators examined her top-floor apartment and reported no signs of a struggle or forced entry, describing the rooms as unremarkable. Officers seized several packs of antidepressants from the residence, which were to undergo forensic testing. According to the police, there was so far no indication that a third party had directly carried out an attack, but all available evidence was being carefully reviewed.
Unclear cause and open questions
Investigators said it remained unclear whether the death was a suicide linked to the looming verdict in the murder trial or an accident. They also considered whether the case might be connected to her past life marked by violence, with the bloodstained weapon at the scene adding to the mystery. The body was sent for autopsy, and officials said the results could provide crucial answers and potentially help clarify the earlier homicide case.
