BANGKOK, THAILAND – Thailand’s air navigation authority said border clashes with Cambodia had not disrupted flights or endangered major tourist destinations.
Border tensions but normal air traffic
Thailand’s aviation authorities reported that, despite tensions along the Thai‑Cambodian frontier, air traffic had continued to operate normally. Tourist hotspots were described as secure and far from any fighting.
Aerothai chair addresses travellers
The chairman of the board of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai), Pichet Kunadhamraks, issued an official statement aimed at travellers.
“The clashes at the border have no impact whatsoever on the flight routes for winter tourism.”
said Pichet Kunadhamraks, chairman of the board of Aerothai.
He stressed that all economic and tourism‑relevant areas remained open as usual and that visitors could travel to Thailand with full confidence. According to him, the country continued to balance national security with smooth tourism operations.
Flight operations stable and compliant
Pichet reaffirmed that Thai air traffic was stable, safe and fully in line with international standards. This assurance covered all international routes serving the main tourist centres during the winter high season.
He added that the areas of conflict were geographically far from all airports and tourist hotspots, and that there had not been a single disruption to flight operations. Passenger safety remained the top priority for the authorities.
Focus on South Korean market
With particular emphasis, the Aerothai chief addressed visitors from South Korea, one of Thailand’s key source markets. He encouraged them to maintain their high‑season travel plans to Thailand.
Last year there were 19,870 flights between the two countries, an average of 54 flights per day, mainly via Incheon Airport in Seoul. For December and January, Aerothai expected this to rise to around 60 flights daily.
Impact on upcoming travel plans
Authorities said there was no reason for concern for those with trips to Thailand in the coming weeks. Flight schedules were being maintained as usual, and major destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and the islands in the Gulf of Thailand were not affected.
Thai agencies stated that guest safety was their foremost concern and highlighted close cooperation between relevant bodies to ensure a smooth travel experience. Travellers were encouraged to book and fly without hesitation, with Thailand signalling that it was ready to welcome them.
