PATTAYA, THAILAND – Three teenagers were left critically injured after a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Banglamung district.
Night-time crash at Y-junction
The crash occurred late Friday night at about 10:30 p.m. at a Y-junction on Takhian Tia Road in the Takhian Tia subdistrict administration area of Banglamung in Chonburi province, according to police. The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation Pattaya received an emergency call and immediately dispatched rescue teams and medical staff from Pattaya Hospital and Pattaya City Hospital.
Three teenagers critically injured
At the scene, responders found three severely injured teenagers on the roadway, two girls and one boy, all estimated to be between 13 and 15 years old. A Thai boy lay unconscious on the road, a 13-year-old girl was also unconscious, and another 13-year-old girl had suffered a fracture to her left thigh.
Emergency response and hospital transfer
Rescue workers and emergency doctors began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the two unconscious youths and provided first aid to the third girl. All three were transported in critical condition to nearby hospitals and remained in life-threatening condition at the time of reporting.
Motorcycle destroyed, pickup damaged
Near the victims lay a heavily damaged red Honda Wave motorcycle, with parts scattered across the roadway. The other vehicle, a blue Toyota pickup used to sell sugarcane juice, showed significant damage to its front left side.
Pickup driver’s account of the crash
The 59-year-old pickup driver, Chaiya Nongyai, was uninjured and waited at the scene for police. He told officers he had been driving from the Rong Po area toward Takhian Tia and intended to turn at the Y-junction when a fast-moving motorcycle suddenly appeared.
“The motorcycle did not have its light on, I could not see it until the collision,”
said Chaiya Nongyai, pickup driver. He stated that the impact threw the three teenagers in different directions.
CCTV footage suggests different sequence
Later-reviewed CCTV footage from the junction showed a different sequence of events, according to investigators. The recording showed the motorcycle, ridden by a male driver with two female passengers, traveling straight at speed while the pickup suddenly turned across its lane, leading to a side-on collision. The force of the crash hurled the teenagers through the air.
Police examine evidence and legal steps
Officers from Banglamung Police Station inspected the crash site, collected evidence and reviewed the video footage to determine the precise cause of the accident. They were also assessing possible criminal charges in connection with the collision.
