PHUKET, THAILAND – A late-night dispute outside a beach club in Bang Tao ended in a stabbing that sent a British tourist to hospital and triggered an intensive police hunt for a foreign suspect.
Stabbing outside popular beach club
Police in Cherng Talay were alerted at 12:20 a.m. on 3 December to a violent incident near a well-known beach club in Bang Tao. At the scene, officers found Louis Johe Jarvie, a 34-year-old British national, with a stab wound to his right arm. Local rescue personnel provided first aid before transporting him to Thalang Hospital.
Suspect fled before officers arrived
The alleged attacker, described only as another foreigner, had escaped before police arrived. The exact circumstances of the dispute that led to the stabbing remained unclear. Officers said they were still working to determine how the confrontation escalated.
Victim under observation in hospital
The injured tourist was kept in hospital for observation, and his condition was reported to be improving, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittipong Noopeng.
“He is feeling better but is still not able to give a full statement,”
said Kittipong Noopeng, police lieutenant colonel. Witnesses were only able to describe the suspect as a “tall foreign man,” offering little detail for investigators.
Poor visibility hampers identification
Officers said the darkness on the beach made it difficult for bystanders to provide a precise description. Investigators were now placing their hopes on the analysis of CCTV footage from the area. They were also questioning more witnesses and searching the surroundings for additional evidence.

The attack took place in Cherng Talay, a popular tourist district in northwest Phuket. Authorities noted that such violent incidents involving tourists were rare on the island but could seriously damage its reputation as a safe holiday destination.
