SRIRACHA, THAILAND – Residents in Sriracha rapidly mobilized large-scale relief supplies for victims of severe flooding in southern provinces.
Central donation point at city hall
The Sriracha city administration set up an official donation center at city hall to collect relief items for people affected by ongoing flooding in several southern provinces. Hundreds of residents took part and delivered large quantities of goods, including more than 3,000 packs of drinking water, canned fish, instant noodles, rice, as well as medicines and medical consumables. The donations were intended for affected communities and evacuation centers in the south, where many people had been temporarily housed.
Mayor supervises relief effort on site
Mayor Chatchai Timkrachang was present with senior officials, city council members and the Sriracha Women’s Power Group to receive the incoming donations and oversee the organization.
“This wave of support shows the strong sense of community and the willingness to help fellow citizens in times of crisis.”
said Chatchai, mayor. He stated that solidarity was a crucial factor in improving the situation of those affected in the south.
First aid shipment heads to Songkhla
On Monday, a large truck carrying the collected relief goods departed for the south, bound for the administration of Phawong subdistrict in Mueang Songkhla district, one of the hardest-hit areas. Local authorities there were to take over distribution of the aid packages, with plans to deliver them directly to flood victims and temporary shelters to ease shortages of water, food and basic medicines.
Donation drive to continue
As flooding in several southern provinces continued, the donation center at Sriracha city hall remained open to receive further relief items for additional shipments to the south. The city administration said that drinking water, non-perishable foods such as canned goods, instant noodles and rice, as well as medicines and medical consumables were still particularly needed. Authorities announced they would closely monitor the situation in the south and coordinate further relief trips if necessary to stabilize supplies in the affected areas.
