Police raid two Khon Kaen nightclubs

Officers detained 23 suspected drug users and seized small quantities of illegal substances

KHON KAEN, THAILAND – Police raided two popular nightclubs and detained 23 suspected drug users during early-morning operations on 29 November.

Coordinated raid on two bars

Special units moved in at about 1:30 a.m., striking simultaneously at the Bubble Bar on Prachasamran Road and the Wine Bla Bar on Ruenrom Road. Officers had monitored the venues for weeks under the command of Police Major General Phumiphat Phatrsriwongchai.

Suspicions of drugs and illegal hours

The operation targeted suspected violations including illegal opening hours and drug use on the premises. Investigators reported seizing methamphetamine, Ice and Ecstasy during the searches.

Eight detained inside Bubble Bar

At Bubble Bar, officers caught eight people consuming methamphetamine, seven men and one woman. Another man was arrested for possession after police found two small bags of meth weighing a total of 2 grams.

Fifteen arrested at Wine Bla Bar

The Wine Bla Bar saw 15 partygoers detained in karaoke rooms 4 and 7, where they were also found using methamphetamine. Police said they seized 2 grams of meth, 2 grams of Ice and one Ecstasy tablet, describing the drugs as easily accessible in clear breach of Thai narcotics law.

Club managers also in custody

Managers of both establishments were arrested alongside the guests. They faced accusations of operating beyond legal opening hours, serving alcohol outside permitted times and allowing drug use on their premises.

Police underline ongoing crackdown

“This operation was part of our ongoing efforts to monitor nightclubs suspected of being involved with drugs.”

said Police Major General Phumiphat Phatrsriwongchai, the officer in charge.

The detainees and the seized substances were taken to Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities framed the raids as a clear signal that Thailand intended to take a tough stance on drugs in the nightlife sector.
