PHUKET, THAILAND – Local officials intervened in a Phuket residential complex after residents reported six consecutive hours of nightly noise caused by a foreign couple.
Officials from the local administrative office in Phuket responded to complaints between 22:00 and 04:00 each night, when neighbours said constant sounds came from one unit of the complex. Authorities visited the property after several residents filed written reports describing sleep deprivation and public disturbance.
Officials confirm repeated warnings
A middle-aged foreign man admitted responsibility for the noise during the visit by authorities. The official record noted:
“He admitted that the complaints were true.”
said Phuket Administrative Officer, official report.
Police documentation confirmed that the man had been warned once before. After renewed contact, he promised to limit future disturbances and personally apologised to neighbours inside the compound.
Unusual explanation for loud behaviour
The man later told officers he worked in athletics. According to the agency report,
“He claimed to be a football player who trains almost every day and competes regularly.”

Investigators recorded that the individual described himself as “too energetic” due to continuous physical training, acknowledging he would take steps to control his behaviour. The Phuket Andaman News Agency reported that he subsequently met neighbours in person to discuss the incident.
Similar cases reported in Patong
Officials cited another disturbance in April in Patong, when a foreign couple allegedly engaged in loud conduct visible through open curtains and on their balcony. Residents there endured the situation for four nights before alerting police.
“They had not only loud interactions with open curtains, but even went out onto the balcony.”
said Local resident group, Patong.
Authorities intervened after neighbours experienced sleep loss and documented repeated violations of condominium noise rules.
Bangkok area faces related investigations
Similar complaints were registered in a condominium located in the Nana district of Bangkok, where residents reported that foreign occupants rented rooms without proper documentation. The Bangkok Metropolitan Police received reports of continuous noise and suspected illicit operations inside the building.
Investigators noted security concerns relating to uncontrolled entry of unknown individuals, and administrative checks remain ongoing under local jurisdiction.
Authorities outline next steps
Local administrative offices across Phuket and Bangkok confirmed coordinated inspections of foreign-leased accommodations during June and July. Officials emphasised that repeated infractions may lead to fines or revocation of residency permits under municipal standards.
