PATTAYA, THAILAND – Local authorities in Pattaya have opened an investigation after two Finnish tourists reported the disappearance of 2,000 US dollars from their rented vacation home in Jomtien.
Late-night police report filed in Jomtien
Miss Sini Susanna Anttila and her sister arrived at the Dongtan Curve substation of the Pattaya City Police Station shortly after midnight on Wednesday to file a formal complaint. The case was received at 1:06 a.m. by Police Lieutenant Anan Mahakij-asawakul, who logged the incident and ordered an immediate response.
No signs of forced entry
The sisters told investigators they had gone out for dinner, leaving their family rental house on Soi Jomtien 7 unattended. When they returned, the cash—worth roughly 60,000 Thai baht—was missing. According to police records, no one staying in the property claimed to know what happened, and officers found no visible signs of a break-in, leaving the means of entry uncertain.
Inquiry and evidence gathering under way
Police confirmed that evidence technicians and detectives were dispatched to the property shortly after the complaint. The team began gathering material, including CCTV footage from nearby properties and statements from possible witnesses. The authorities aim to identify the suspect and determine whether the theft involved someone with local access or an external intrusion.
