PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 37-year-old Bolt motorcycle driver, identified as Mr. Boonthan (known by the nickname ‘Don’), allegedly knocked a 50-year-old American tourist, Quincy Nguyen Tran, unconscious during a confrontation on Soi 16 near the Walking Street on the night of Oct. 9 at about 2 a.m. CCTV footage shows the driver dismounting and striking the tourist repeatedly until he collapsed.
Violent altercation near Walking Street
According to local reports, the incident began when the driver swerved to avoid a taxi and came too close to the American tourist. The tourist raised his arm in warning and threatened to take a photo of what he considered reckless driving. The driver responded by getting off his motorbike and attacking the tourist with punches and kicks aimed at the face and jaw. The assault left the victim unconscious, as seen on video shared with local media.
Suspect surrenders
Two days after the attack the suspect surrendered to Pattaya police and admitted to the assault, describing it as an impulsive act. The injured tourist told reporters he was “angry and deeply upset” by the attack.
