Panic in Bang Yai Mall: Man Jumps After Upskirt Allegation
A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life after leaping from the fourth floor of a popular shopping mall in Bang Yai. The dramatic incident unfolded after a woman accused him of secretly filming upskirt shots with an iPad. His desperate plunge ended with catastrophic injuries, leaving him in a coma.
Shock in the shopping centre
At around 8.30pm on September 12, panic erupted inside the bustling mall. Witnesses reported scenes of chaos as the man suddenly hurled himself over the railing, plummeting from the fourth to the first floor.
Shoppers watched in horror as Mr. Punnaphop, 21, lay bleeding and unconscious on the ground. His right ankle was visibly shattered, and he showed no response as security guards rushed to clear the area. Emergency teams performed first aid before rushing him to Kasemrad Rattanatibeth Hospital. Doctors later confirmed his condition was critical and he remained in a coma.
The iPad at the centre of the storm
The chain of events began moments earlier at an escalator, where a woman noticed the man apparently pointing his iPad under her skirt. She screamed for help and called security, who immediately confronted the suspect.
In sheer panic, he tossed away his bag and the iPad before throwing himself over the balcony in front of stunned onlookers. What appeared to be a desperate escape attempt has instead left him battling for survival.
Police investigation under way
Bang Yai police confirmed they received a report from the alleged victim. Pol Col Siraphop Anusiri, superintendent of the local station, said: “We are reviewing CCTV footage to establish the exact sequence of events.”
If he survives, the young man could face charges of harassment and public indecency. Investigators have seized the iPad and other belongings for forensic analysis.
For now, doctors are focused on keeping him alive. Should his condition stabilise, police plan to interrogate him. Until then, key questions remain unanswered: Was this a one-time mistake or part of a pattern? And what exactly do the images on the iPad reveal?
